Clinton Urges Iran to 'Engage Seriously' on Nuclear Program

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is urging Iran to "engage seriously" with the international community about its nuclear program.

Clinton made the remarks Friday in Bahrain, where she is attending an annual security forum in the capital of Manama.

Iran is to resume talks next week in Geneva with the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany over its nuclear program. Tehran denies charges it is using the program to build nuclear weapons.

Clinton told reporters Iran's nuclear ambitions are a concern shared by all nations, especially those in the Middle East region.

Her visit to Bahrain comes in the wake over the release of scores of U.S. diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks. One of the disclosed cables quoted Bahrain's King Hamad telling U.S. officials that Iran must be stopped from developing nuclear weapons.

Appearing alongside Clinton, Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Khalifa reaffirmed the king's stance over the issue.
