U.S. President Barack Obama is set to meet Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa Wednesday to discuss trade ties, security, and the fight against drug trafficking.

The White House says President Obama welcomes the opportunity to underscore the bonds of friendship between the two countries, as well as President Lobo's efforts to restore democratic and constitutional order in Honduras after a 2009 coup.

Honduras was suspended from the Organization of American States in 2009 after anti-government forces overthrew the government of President Manuel Zelaya in a widely condemned coup.

President Lobo, who came to power in elections seen as free and fair later that year, has worked to restore Honduras's standing in the group. Honduras was readmitted to the OAS in June.

President Lobo is also set to address members of the OAS Wednesday, giving a speech on strengthening democracy in the Americas.
