NHL: Lightning Outscores Capitals

In National Hockey League action, Vincent Lecavalier scored a tiebreaking power play goal with about five minutes left in regulation to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals Friday night.

Vinny Prospal added an empty net goal in the final minute to complete the scoring for the Lightning.

Washington rookie Alexander Ovechkin had his third two goal game for the Capitals in the loss.

Elsewhere in the NHL, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Philadelphia Flyers 8-6, the Columbus Blue Jackets edged the Minnesota Wild 2-1, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2, the Edmonton Oilers skated past the Dallas Stars 5-3, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks got past the St. Louis Blues 6-4.
