Former Boston star Trot Nixon broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the 11th inning with a run-scoring single. Franklin Gutierrez capped the seven-run inning with a three-run home run.
Saturday's game lasted five hours and 14 minutes, ending long after midnight in Boston.
The best-of-seven series moves to Cleveland Monday for the first of three games.
