A late penalty during injury time has given co-host Austria a 1-1 draw with Poland at the European Championship football tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
Ivica Vastic scored the game-tying goal Thursday in Vienna. Mariusz Lewandowski of Poland pulled the shirt of Austria's Sebastian Proedl in the area on a free kick. The referee awarded the Austrians a penalty kick, and Vastic sent his shot to the goalkeeper's right.
Brazilian-born playmaker Roger Guerreiro gave Poland the lead by tapping in a 30th-minute cross from Marek Saganowski for his first international goal since he received Polish citizenship in April.
The result means Croatia has clinched first place in Group-B after its 2-1 win in Klagenfurt over Germany.
Croatia's first goal came in the 24th minute from Darijo Srna off a crossing pass from Danijel Pranjic. The Croatians got their second score from Ivica Olic in the 63rd minute. It came after a shot by Ivan Rakitic was deflected by German forward Lukas Podolski. The ball then bounced off the post right to the feet of Olic, who tapped it in.
The other three teams in the group all have a chance to join the Croats in the knockout round in their final games on Monday.
