Blast Kills Two Soldiers in Indian-Kashmir

Indian officials said an explosion has killed two soldiers and wounded six others in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The blast occurred Thursday inside a military vehicle while an army convoy traveled through the Baramulla district of northern Kashmir.

Authorities said they are investigating the cause of the explosion.

Separately, Indian officials said they are probing the veracity of a video posted on the Internet, which purportedly shows young men being paraded naked by security forces in Kashmir.

Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram says no one so far has been able to authenticate the three-minute video.

The video has fueled further anger in the Himalayan region, which has been gripped by nearly three months of protests against Indian rule. At least 69 demonstrators have been killed in the unrest, many after security forces opened fire on stone-throwing crowds.

Muslim separatists in Kashmir have been waging a decades-long struggle for independence from India or a merger with Muslim-majority Pakistan.
