A team of scientists, led by the University of Arizona, says they found evidence of a recent volcanic eruption on Mars. While most Martian volcanic activity took place between 3 and 4 billion years ago, the researchers say that volcanic eruptions could have also taken place within the past 50,000 years. The scientists also suggested that Marsquakes detected by NASA’s Insight Lander could be caused by the movement of magma deep underground.
