Since the 1930s, Columbus Day has been recognized as a federal holiday in the U.S., where it aims to honor the Italian-born explorer credited with having “discovered America.” In the past several years, Los Angeles has been celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead. Genia Dulot has the story.
