A Kentucky county clerk has been released from jail after being detained for contempt over her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Kim Davis' decision not to issue the licenses, which came about two months after the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark ruling legalizing gay marriage across the country, has inflamed passions on both sides of the debate.
