Pakistan Rebels Target Bus Convoy

A local official in southwest Pakistan says rebel separatists have kidnapped and killed at least 13 people after stopping their convoy of buses as it headed to Punjab province.

Local official Kashif Nabi says the bodies of the victims were found Tuesday. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

On Monday, Pakistani security forces were on high alert for a potential militant attack on high-profile targets in the capital, Islamabad.

Authorities tightened security throughout the city on Sunday and sent Pakistani air force and navy commandos into the adjacent Margalla Hills area to search for militants behind the suspected plot.

Officials said they were acting on intelligence warnings that the Pakistani Taliban may attack Islamabad targets such as the airport, the president's office, the national parliament and a naval base.
