6 Killed in Somalia Suicide Bombing


At least six people have been killed and an unknown number of others were wounded when a suicide bomber targeted a treasury official in the Somali town of Galkayo.

Witnesses told VOA's Somali service that the bomber hugged the official, Said Ali Yusuf, before blowing himself up, killing the official and five other people.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibly for the attack.

Security officials in Galkayo, in Puntland region, told VOA that they detained several people in connection with the blast..

The attack came one day after gunmen killed 6 people including two Turkish nationals in a drive-by shooting in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
