A series of bombings in Iraq has killed at least 12 people.

In the deadliest attack Saturday, Iraqi authorities say mortar bombs killed six people in a Shi'ite Muslim village near the city of Baquba. The victims include at least five members of the same family, with two women and a young boy among the dead.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the bombings.

The deadly attacks are the latest incidents of violence which has increased in recent months in Iraq.

Several hundred people have been killed this month alone, mainly in clashes between Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims.
