Italy's Mount Etna volcano came to life Thursday, spewing lava and ash into the air.

The brief eruption forced at least one nearby airport to close but did not cause any injuries.

Mount Etna is Europe's most active volcano. It is located near the town of Catania, in Sicily.

Its last major eruption was in 1992.
