Libya Celebrates Revolution Anniversary

Libyans are celebrating the second anniversary of the uprising that ended the 40-year rule of former president Moammar Gadhafi.

In Tripoli and Benghazi, flags and streamers fluttered from walls, lampposts and cars, and police and militiamen manned checkpoints.

As night fell, fireworks lit up the night sky and the sound of car horns filled the air.

The run-up to the celebrations had been overshadowed by concerns about the outbreak of violence.

The government has closed the borders with Tunisia and Egypt for the weekend festivities.
