Russian peace activists say authorities are stepping up restrictions on freedom of expression ahead of next year’s presidential elections in Russia, as Russia’s war against Ukraine drags on. They point to the case of lesbian peace activist Aleksandra Skochilenko, who faces a 10-year prison sentence for expressing her opposition to the war.
