In the three-decade conflict between the Turkish state and Kurds seeking greater minority rights, tens of thousands of people were killed, and some of the victims' families fled to Europe. Imret returned to Turkey to take up her father’s struggle, though, and became the country’s youngest mayor at 27. Dorian Jones has the story for VOA.
