10-02-13 DBA MARUF - KENYA SOMALIA REFUGEES

KENYAN PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA HAS VOWED TO KEEP KENYAN TROOPS IN SOMALIA DESPITE THE RECENT ATTACK ON THE WESTGATE MALL IN NAIROBI BY THE AL-SHABAB MILITANT GROUP. AL-SHABAB SAYS THE ATTACK WAS RETALIATION FOR KENYA'S ONGOING MILITARY OPERATIONS IN SOMALIA. MEANWHILE, SOME KENYAN PARLIAMENTARIANS HAVE CALLED FOR THE CLOSURE OF THE DADAAB REFUGEES CAMP IN KENYA WHICH HOSTS NEARLY HALF A MILLION SOMALI REFUGEES. BUT MOHAMED DAHIYE DUALE, A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT REPRESENTING THE DADAAB DISTRICT SAYS KENYA MUST RESPECT INTERNATIONAL OBLIGATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO THE REPATRIATION OF REFUGEES.
