The number of confirmed COVID-19 infections worldwide has accelerated in recent days – with over 38 million cases and a death toll exceeding 1.08 million on Wednesday. The United States remains the worst-hit country in the world followed by India and Brazil. Some countries in Europe have also recently seen record numbers of confirmed cases.
