Morocco, Brazil Reach U-20 Football Semis

Morocco and Brazil have qualified for the semifinals of the men's under-20 football (soccer) in the Netherlands, with both teams needing more than a regulation match to reach the final four.

Morocco beat Italy, 4-2, on penalties while Brazil scored a 2-1 win over Germany.

After 120 minutes of football ended with Morocco tied with Italy 2-2, Moroccan goalkeeper Mohammed Bourkadi stopped Italy's Daniele Galloppa and Cristian Agnelli in the shootout. All of Morocco's shooters except Rida Doulyazal scored, giving the North African team the win.

Morocco faces the winner of Saturday's semifinal between Nigeria and the Netherlands. Morocco has appeared in this tournament twice before - in the inaugural event in 1977 and again in 1997, but has never won the title.

Meanwhile, Brazil needed extra time to beat Germany. Rafael scored the winner for Brazil in the extra period.

The Brazilians meet the winner of a quarterfinal match Saturday between archrival Argentina and Spain.

The semifinals are June 28. The third place game and the finals are scheduled for July 2.
