Spain, Morocco, China Win at U-20 Soccer


Morocco has beaten Chile, 1-0, while Spain defeated Honduras, 3-0, Friday at the World Youth Championship football (soccer) tournament in the Netherlands.

Tarik Bendamu scored the only goal in Morocco's win, which clinched a berth in the second round. Morocco is second in Group-C with six points, and Chile is third with three points.

Spain's win gave it the Group-C title with nine points. Honduras finished last with no points and 15 goals allowed in the group stage.

In Group-B, China clinched first place by beating Panama, 4-1. Ukraine and Turkey tied 2-2, giving each team four points in the standings. Ukraine beat Turkey to second place on goal difference. China finished with nine points and Panama finished with no points.

The top two teams in each of the tournament's six groups advance to the second round. The four best third-place finishers also advance, but those teams will not be determined until the group stage concludes Saturday.
