Heather’s playlist includes an awesome mix of tunes from across the continent. You’ll hear new afropop, amapiano, R&B and afrobeats by artists like Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe), Rethabile Khumalo (South Africa), Beyonce ft Wizkid (Nigeria), BiQo (Ghana), and Charlotte Dipanda ft Singuila (Cameroon); a few classics like “Shana” (1996) by Sally Nyolo and “No Beer in Heaven” (2005) by Atongo Zimba; and one Nigeria vintage tune “Only the Fool Lady” (c1970) by Hausa legendary singer Maman Duka.

Song of the week features a hot, new afrobeats release out of Nigeria (it’s by Olamide). In music news the 2020 Prince Claus Awards honor two African laureates: multimedia artist Ibrahim Mahama (Ghana), and the Fendika Cultural Center in Addis Abbaba (Melaku Belay). Finally, Stella Mwangi joins Heather from Oslo, Norway by way of a virtual interview. The singer, rapper and entrepreneur is a Kenyan Norwegian and has a fascinating career and life story. She talks about how she made history with her hit song “Haba Haba”; her music synchronization in Hollywood’s TV & Film industry and console gaming; and how she’s coping with COVID and what new music she’s got for us in 2021.
