On this edition of Encounter, the Trump Administration and some members of congress would like to make some changes to the 1973 Endangered Species Act. They say doing so would cut government red tape that stymies the US economy. Those opposing say the proposals threaten key elements of legislation designed to protect species from becoming extinct. Ingrid Seggerman, Senior Legislative Analyst at the Defenders of Wildlife and Daren Bakst, - Senior Research Fellow in Agricultural Policy at the Heritage Foundation join host Rick Pantaleo to discuss these suggested changes and the impact they could have on saving endangered species.
