Fathers, refugees, African reggae, and the loss of a Highlife legend: That’s what’s inside today’s edition... musically, of course. It’s Father’s Day on June 21st and World Refugee Day took place on June 20th, so we celebrate with music by Stromae, Youssoupha ft his late father Tabouley Rochereau, Aziza Brahim, Hugh Masekela, and Tiken Jah Fakoly. My special virtual guest is international reggae artist and activist Rocky Dawuni. He reveals the story behind his new visuals to “Champion Arise” and Ghanaian highlife legend 9-9-2-4 Nana Tuffour passed away June 15th. Kwame Ofori joins me for Song of the Week “Abeiku” which is one of Tuffour’s classic tunes. We listen and talk about his legacy. There’s also more great music including new releases like “Link Up” by Koby Symple (Ghana), Ololiyo by ABZ ft Daphne (Cameroon), “Ngeke Balunge” by Mafikizolo (South Africa), and traditional balafon music by Neba Solo (Mali).
