Today brings an exciting, pan-African mix of tunes from artists from Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Mali. At the bottom of the hour, we go vintage with a wonderful song by the most popular band in Rwanda in the 1980s Orchestre Impala de Kigali. You’ll also meet two artists with interviews from Nairobi and New York City. Kora player and composer Yacouba Sissoko (Mali) joins Heather Maxwell live in Midtown Manhattan studio where he performs a song off of his forthcoming album Blessings. Near the end of the hour, reporter Bill Odidi speaks with the famous am amapiano duo Scorpion Kings (South Africa) and plays us some awesome samples of its new music.
