One of Italy's most wanted criminals has been killed while trying to escape from police.
Sicilian Mafia boss Daniele Emmanuello was found dead in a ravine near his house in Sicily.
Emmanuello jumped out of a window while trying to escape a police raid on the house Monday. Police are investigating whether the fall into the ravine killed him or if he died from a bullet wound to the neck before tumbling into the ditch.
Emmanuello was one of Italy's 30 most wanted fugitives. He had been on the run from authorities for 11 years. He was the reputed organized crime boss of the southern Sicilian port of Gela.
He was wanted on several charges, including murder and drug trafficking.
