Burkina Faso Turns to Long-Time Diplomat as Interim President

This week, Michel Kafando was sworn in as transitional president of Burkina Faso. Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida was named prime minister. Ernest Harsch is an adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a research scholar at the university’s Institute of African Studies. Report William Eagle asked talked with him about the new interim government. They also spoke about the influence of former president and folk hero Thomas Sankara.
