Ladies' Professional Golf Association Tour commissioner Ty Votaw has announced his resignation effective at the end of the 2005 season.
No reason was given for the decision.
The 42-year-old Votaw has been commissioner since 1999. He oversaw a period of extensive growth in women's professional golf.
During Votaw's tenure, the number of tournaments that offer $1 million in prize money has risen from 12 to 30. Four tournaments now offer at least $2 million in total prize money.
The average purse per tournament has also grown from $840,000 to more than $1.4 million.
The LPGA Board of Directors has established a 10-member search committee to look for Votaw's replacement.
