Tennis: Venus Williams, Davenport to Face Off at Bausch & Lomb Quarterfinals

American tennis star Venus Williams has set up a quarterfinal clash with world No. 1 Lindsay Davenport of the United States at the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Amelia Island, Florida.

Williams, the fifth seed, defeated Polish qualifier Marta Domachowska in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. The match was held over from Thursday because of a rain delay.

Also Friday, French player Virginie Razzano defeated 13th-seeded Ai Sugiyama of Japan in three sets 6-4, 6-7, 7-5. Razzano faces Russia's Vera Zvonareva in the final eight.

Italian Silvia Farina Elia reached the quarterfinals with a three-set win over eighth-seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The clay-court tournament is a key warm-up for the second major tournament of the year, the French Open, which gets under way May 23 in Paris.
