Peruvian Prosecutors Demand Protection for Judges

Peru's justice minister is demanding special police protection for judges, lawyers and witnesses in narcotics trials.

Peru has seen several drug-related killings in recent months, and officials say those involved in drug trials are especially at risk. One man was gunned down while heading into a courtroom to give testimony Wednesday.

Experts say drug traffickers in Peru are using more brutal tactics lately, including using hit men to eliminate rivals - a common practice in Colombia and Mexico.

Peru is the world's second largest producer of cocaine.
