The French news agency reports hundreds of tribesmen took to the streets shouting anti-U.S. slogans; demonstrators insist the men killed and detained were civilians

NATO says a joint Afghan and international security force has captured a Taliban sub-commander and killed several insurgents.

NATO says it captured two other militants during the operation in Logar province in eastern Afghanistan.

NATO says the joint force was conducting a security operation Sunday morning when it encountered the militants.

The International Security Assistance Force says the sub-commander was responsible for planning suicide attacks.

Afghan officials say residents of Logar have set fire to several military vehicles, protesting military action.

The French news agency reports hundreds of tribesmen took to the streets shouting anti-U.S. slogans. The news service said the demonstrators insist the men killed and detained were civilians.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, officials say a suicide bomber has killed two security guards and two civilians in the southern region of the country.

The Interior Ministry says the bomber, who was on foot, targeted the guards Sunday at a bazaar in the Sahjoy district of Zabul province.

Twelve people were wounded in the bomb blast.
