Powerful Earthquake Shakes Tajikistan

Earthquake epicenter near Murghab, Tajikistan

A powerful earthquake shook Tajikistan Monday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damange.

The U.S. Geographical Survey said the epicenter of the 7.2 point earthquake was located in the eastern part of the Central Asian county, 120 kilometers from the nearest village.

Residents in the capital, Dudhanbe, told news agencies the quake was felt in the city.

Reports say the quake was also felt in cities in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
