An investigative commission in Brazil says the car incident that killed former President Juscelino Kubitschek in 1976 was the result of a plot ordered by the military regime that was ruling the country.
The commission's president, Gilberto Natalini, said Tuesday that Kubitschek was "the victim of a conspiracy and a political crime." Before the investigation, officials said the former leader had died in a car accident on the highway between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The commission analyzed 90 pieces of evidence before concluding that Kubitschek's death was a conspiracy.
