A suspected U.S. drone strike has killed at least six people in a troubled northwest tribal district of Pakistan.
If confirmed, the late Wednesday strike would be the first American drone action in the country in six months.
Pakistan's government had asked for a suspension of the U.S. drone campaign last fall when it began peace talks with the Pakistani Taliban.
The missile attack came three days after a bloody attack by the Pakistani Taliban on Karachi’s international airport that left 36 dead, including the 10 gunmen.
Earlier Wednesday, an Uzbek militant group based in Pakistan’s tribal areas said it participated in the attack on Karachi airport.
The Pakistani Taliban initially claimed responsibility. A spokesman said Wednesday that the Uzbek group had played a role but he did not give any details.
