A trio of Japanese scientists have proposed the possibility that there are thousands of planets orbiting supermassive black holes at the center of some galaxies. Accepted knowledge suggests that planets are formed from protoplanetary disks made up of dust, gas and other materials left over from the formation of a star. Black holes also have similar potential planet building material circling them as well.
