Dr. Alu Seifi, from the University of Texas Health Science Center, and colleagues tested the effectiveness of a new tool he developed that stops hiccups. The researchers, writing in the JAMA Network Open, found that the device called, a "forced inspiratory suction and swallow tool”, or FISST was about 90% effective at stopping hiccups in those who used it.
