Science in a Minute: Satellites and Space Junk Contribute to Light Pollution

Astronomers say that increasing light pollution (brightening of the night skies from artificial light) is making their exploration of the cosmos from ground-based telescopes more difficult. A new study provides evidence that more than 10% of night-sky brightness, above natural light levels, is due to satellites and other objects orbiting Earth.
