Palestinian political rivals Fatah and Hamas have agreed that their unity government will take control of the Gaza Strip.
Officials from both sides say the deal was reached at talks in Cairo. Details were not immediately available, but reports said an official announcement would come soon.
Fatah and Hamas - which rules Gaza - agreed to set up the unity government after peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority stalled earlier this year.
A new cabinet was never appointed, however, and a bloody months-long war between Israel and Hamas stalled the planned political arrangement.
