Indonesia's Electoral Commission has announced a final tally from last month's parliamentary elections, declaring the main opposition party the winner.
However, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, the party of former president Megawati Sukarnoputri, will need support from coalition partners to be able to field their candidate, Jakarta governor Joko Widodo, in the presidential election on July 9.
Megawati's party won less than 19 percent of the vote, short of the 25 percent of the national vote needed to enter the presidential contest.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono must step down this year after serving two terms. His party finished fourth in the parliamentary election.
