Iranian authorities have granted bail to a British-Iranian woman jailed earlier this month for trying to attend a men's volleyball match despite laws banning women from men's sporting events.

Family members of 25-year-old Ghoncheh Ghavami say she was released on bail Sunday ahead of an appeal.

Ghavami was detained in June after trying to attend a men's volleyball match between Iran and Italy.

On November 2, a Tehran court sentenced her to one year in jail for propagating against the ruling system.

Ghavami is reported to be staying with her family in Tehran until the court of appeal rules on her sentence.
