Maldives President Abdulla Yameen has escaped unharmed from an explosion on his speedboat.
Government officials say the blast happened Monday as the boat was approaching Male, the capital.
The cause of the blast was not immediately clear.
Yameen had arrived at Hulhule airport earlier in the day, returning from Saudi Arabia where he had undertaken a Hajj pilgrimage.
