Tsunami Warning Issued, Then Canceled After 7.3 Indonesian Quake

A powerful earthquake has struck just off the coast of Indonesia, leading to a tsunami warning for areas up to 300 kilometers away.

The warning was later canceled after little damage was reported, and no one was hurt.

The 7.3 magnitude quake occurred just after 10:30 Saturday morning, local time, near the epicenter off the coast of the Maluku Islands in eastern Indonesia. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at a depth of 46 kilometers.

Indonesia is located on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" fault line, which is prone to earthquakes and volcanoes.
