Tens of thousands of people gathered on Moscow's Red Square for a televised concert called “We’re Together” to celebrate Russia's annexation of Crimea.
Inside the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed a joint session of parliament and then signed a treaty making Crimea once again a part of Russia.
Later, at the concert on Red Square, Putin spoke to the crowd.
“After a long, difficult and exhausting voyage at sea, Crimea and Sevastopol are returning to their native port,” declared Putin.
Bone-chilling winds seemed to dampen the excitement of many rally-goers, though others showed some emotion. The Russian leader, however, seemed exuberant.
“I know, I’m positive, we’ll get through it all, solve everything - because we’re together. Glory to Russia!” said Putin.
Russian authorities say some 110,000 people turned out for Putin and the concert. The event was broadcast live, and likely reached millions.
