US Closes Embassy to Public in Yemen

The U.S. State Department says it has closed its embassy to the public in Yemen because of recent attacks against Western interests in that country.

There was no specific threat cited Wednesday against the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Sana'a.

The closure was expected to be temporary and only affects services to the public, including visa processing.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the mission will reopen to the public when the security situation is deemed appropriate.
