2 More Vietnamese Soccer Players in Match-Fixing Scandal

Vietnamese police have arrested two more players from the country's national soccer team on charges of fixing a match at last month's Southeast Asia Games in Manila.

Officials say midfielders Huynh Quoac Anh and Le Bat Hieu were detained Wednesday following interrogation by the police. Two of their teammates, Pham Van Quyen and Le Quoc Vuong were arrested last week on the same charges.

Local media have reported the players conspired to beat Burma by just one goal in return for payments from Vietnamese gamblers. Vietnam won the match, 1-0.

Vietnam's second most senior soccer official resigned Tuesday over allegations that he failed to prevent the match-fixing plot, which is the latest in a series of corruption scandals to hit Vietnamese soccer this year.
