A Pakistani official says President Pervez Musharraf has departed for the first-ever visit to Latin American by a Pakistani leader.
The official says President Musharraf left Friday on the trip designed to improve economic and trade ties with Latin America. The president is scheduled to meet with the leaders of Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
The official went on to say Mr. Musharraf also will travel to Washington towards the end of next week for a meeting with President Bush. The Pakistani president is also expected to fly to Britain and France for meetings with leaders there.
