Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf is in Brazil on the first leg of a
trip designed to improve economic and trade ties with Latin America.
General Musharraf is expected to meet Monday in Brasilia with
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Officials say the two leaders will
sign documents on drug trafficking, food security, visa waivers and
election issues.
President Musharraf arrived in Rio de Janeiro Saturday to begin the
first visit to Latin America by a Pakistani leader. He spent Sunday
visiting some of the city's famous tourist spots.
The Latin America trip also includes stops to meet with the leaders of
Argentina and Mexico.
A Pakistani official said President Musharraf will travel to the United
States at the end of this week to meet with President Bush.
