Suspected militants have kidnapped a Turkish engineer in eastern Afghanistan. His driver and translator are also missing.
He was working on a road construction project between the southeastern city of Jalalabad and Kunar to the east.
Afghan officials say the engineer was kidnapped in Kunar province, but they do not know by whom.
Tuesday, Afghan officials also reported the capture in the southern city of Kandahar of two Taleban commanders. One of them was the security chief of the ousted Taleban leader Mullah Omar.
Mullah Naqibullah Khan and his deputy, Mullah Angar, were captured along with their satellite phones and personal documents.
Officials say the capture could help in tracking down Mullah Omar, one of the most wanted men in Afghanistan.
