Latvia has qualified for the men's ice hockey tournament in the Winter Olympics next year with a dramatic 5-4 comeback victory over Belarus. Aleksandrs Semjonovs scored with two minutes, 29 seconds remaining Sunday to net Latvia's third goal in the final five minutes.
The four-team qualifying event in Riga was one of three across Europe that determined the final berths for the Turin games. Switzerland beat Denmark 4-2 for its third victory and a trip to Italy. Kazakhstan scored a 1-0 win over France to claim the last Olympic slot.
The winners of the qualifying events advance to the 12-team field that include host Italy and defending champion Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and the United States.
