The National Hockey League's Board of Governors and the Players' Union (NHLPA) will hold separate meetings on Tuesday to discuss strategies to restart play next season.
The Board of Governors meeting will take place in New York with all 30 team owners and many general managers expected to attend. The Players' Association is expecting over 100 members at its meeting in Toronto.
The meetings come less than two weeks after the 2004-2005 NHL season was canceled, making it the first major North American sport to lose an entire season to a labor dispute.
The main sticking point in reaching a new collective bargaining agreement remains the imposition of a team salary cap. Players agreed to the cap in last minute negotiations, but the two sides could not reach a deal on the dollar amount.
