Truex Wins 1st Official NASCAR Event Held Outside US

Martin Truex steered his Chevrolet to the checkered flag in the first official NASCAR event held outside the United States.

Truex finished 6.256 seconds ahead of fellow American driver Kevin Harvick in the Telcel Motorola 200 (mile) race in Mexico City. Truex scored his first victory of the season and seventh of his career on the Busch circuit.

Truex stayed at the front and out of trouble. He led a race-high 45 laps in an event marred by eight cautions on the winding road track course.

Several race favorites were not in contention. Robby Gordon's engine began to lose power on lap seven. Mexican Adrian Fernandez finished a solid 10th. Another Mexico City native, Michael Jourdain, finished 11 laps down.
